Welcome to the first quarterly edition of “The Compass”. I am excited to have the opportunity to write this opening letter of your newsletter and to share insights into our Company – who we are, where we are going and current happenings.
The name, “The Compass” was selected as a compass is an instrument that is used for navigation and providing direction. “The Compass” will be a tool to share information on where the family of companies (East West Hospitality, East West Partners, Slifer Smith and Frampton, East West Urban Management, Resort Delivery, Eye Pieces and Edwards Station) are headed and to emphasize the values that will allow us to get there.
Hospitality – we each chose this industry for a reason. Hospitality is defined as “the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors or strangers”. That is what we do! We are going to emphasize why we do it better than the rest…
Working in the Hospitality industry for over 30 years, I cannot tell you how fortunate I feel to have “stumbled” into this industry. Moving to Vail in 1986 I had big plans of passing my CPA and moving to the city for a “real job” with a big company. I did pass my CPA, bought a home, had two kids (now grown and on their own) and settled in to make a difference in the business world and in my community. I simply cannot describe how blessed I feel to have moved to this beautiful valley and started working in this industry. I love Hospitality – I know that sounds cliché, but one of my greatest joys is the relationships I have built and continue to build with all of you and members of our community. Hospitality – what a great thing!
Back to compass – the compass mark in our logo represents east and west (the letters ‘e’ and ‘w’). The blue highlights of the compass point east and west reinforcing our brand. The lowercase approach connotes an approachable and genuine appeal which is one of our brand values.
Speaking of brand values – WE ARE – Entrepreneurial, Local, Transparent, Personal and Collaborative.
We believe in Truly Living Our Destination, Life-Work Balance, Genuine Hospitality, Shared Community, Enduring Relationships and Being Consumer Friendly.
We do all of this through Delivering Genuine Hospitality – our Mission…
I cannot stress enough how very important each and every one of you are to our success. Individually, we are important, but as a team, we are unstoppable. We simply cannot be the best without the support of each other and our hope is that this newsletter is one tool to help bring us closer together.
Thank you for taking your time (I know it is valuable) to read this. I sincerely look forward to what our future holds!
